Celyn George - Miss Wales 2018 finalist & Miss Swansea 2018

I sat in front of my computer for a month, hesitant to click send on my Miss Wales 2018 application. I finally had the courage to send, what was my motivation? I wasn’t really sure – but deciding to click send was the beginning of what I can only describe as the most empowering and incredible journey. I’ve quickly learned that holding the title of Miss Wales is about the love of your country and community, style and the art of giving. I couldn’t quite believe I had been chosen as a Miss Wales finalist. My self-confidence and self esteem has been boosted and driven me to achieve my goals. The past few months have been filled with meeting like-minded and strong women and raising as much money as I can, serving my community in the name of Beauty with a Purpose. My passion is child health and well being, I tried to create a platform in awareness of the disadvantaged children worldwide. I have cycled 250 miles in awareness of the 250 children who lose their lives of cancer yearly in the UK. In addition, I’ve hosted a ‘Pizza and Film’ night, and got the kitchen messy for a few bake sales! Wales and the Welsh language is a strong passion of mine, and being a fluent welsh speaker is something I take pride in. Miss Wales has given me to platform to attend interviews in BBC Radio Cymru and chat with other passionate welsh speakers. I never thought the competition would be such a rewarding experience. I have grown as a person and enjoyed watching other contestants who I now consider friends growing with me. I encourage any girl to apply for Miss Wales, as it is an experience I will forever treasure. I hope to make my community and Wales proud.
