Wedge Walk raises £1,600 for charity

A charity walk held this weekend saw the reigning Miss Wales and a number of the Miss Wales 2016 finalists raise more than £1,600 for the Miss World charity, Beauty With a Purpose.
Around 20 of the 2016 finalists joined Emma Jenkins to take part in the walk which was their first fundraising event in the run up to the Miss Wales 2016 final.
Emma, who is a TV researcher and presenter for Tinopolis on S4C’s Heno and Prynhawn Da programmes organised the walk as just one of a series of fundraising initiatives during her reign to support the Miss World charity which helps disadvantaged children across the globe.
In the glamorous style of the pageant, 60 walkers wore wedge heels for the three mile route around Cardiff Bay.
She said: “Beauty With A Purpose is one of the key objectives of the Miss World organisation and I have enjoyed all my fundraising immensely. It was also a great opportunity for next year’s finalists to start to get to know each other.”
On the second leg of the walk, the girls were tasked with taking imaginative photos to capture the fun spirit of the day.
The concept of the Miss Wales Wedge Walk was launched by Alice Ford, Miss Wales 2014, last year and is being handed down to future winners of the title with a view to it growing year on year so that eventually hundreds of people will join the winner on her annual walk.
